Eighth graders win People’s Credit Union scholarships in CU Hooray

People’s Credit Union announced the recipients of this year’s 8th Grade Scholarship—a $1,000 monetary gift that they’ll get four years from now upon high school graduation. The five recipients are Abigail Mosher of Newport, Amy Flynn of Middletown, Luke Jackson of Portsmouth, Cassidy Estrella Mello of Bristol, and Luke Dolan of North Kingstown. The scholarships were awarded based on school involvement, community involvement, and the answer to an essay question. Each of the scholarship recipients will receive $1,000 upon completion of their senior year of high school. BH Federal Credit Union launches school supply drive in CU Hooray

Black Hills Federal Credit Union is gearing up for the 20th annual School Supply Drive. Over the summer, BHFCU, as well as area businesses and people, will collect, sort and distribute everything from binders to backpack, pens, pencils and paper for the annual drive. “As a community, we’re working to reduce the financial burden of back-to-school expenses for many families and provide the supplies necessary to ensure more than 6,000 students are fully equipped to start the school year,” said Heidi Bulman, business development officer at BHFCU. Community Financial Credit Union donates $65,000 to local charities in CU Hooray

Community Financial Credit Union is celebrating its sixth annual Summer of Sharing program to benefit local communities. It’s Community Financial’s way of saying “thanks” to the neighbors who have helped the credit union and surrounding communities grow during the past 65 years. Since starting the program in 2011, Community Financial has donated more than $300,000 to local groups nominated by members of the community. This summer, in honor of the credit union’s 65th anniversary, Community Financial will be donating $65,000 during Summer of Sharing 2016. Heartland Credit Union raising funds for local homeless school children in CU Hooray

As part of its “Give Local,” initiative, Heartland Credit Union is working with The Madison Metropolitan School District’s Transition Education Program (TEP) to raise awareness of the plight of local homeless school children. The overall goal is to raise money to assist affected families. This year they’ve invited other area credit unions to join them to increase impact and grant funding. Sharefax Credit Union raises money for Children’s Hospital in CU Hooray

A big shoutout to Sharefax Credit Union. They raised more than $7,800 for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center during the 2013 Marching Miles for Miracle Kids. Sharefax members, employees, family and friends participated in the Marching Miles Walk April 18. “Words cannot begin to describe how excited we are to have reached a donation total of over $7,800!” stated Art Kremer, president and CEO of Sharefax Credit Union. “We have such a generous member and employee base. I take great pride in knowing that my credit union is making a difference for children in the Cincinnati area.”

Donations to Credit Union Miracle Day Surpass $6 Million Mark in CU Hooray

Credit Union Miracle Day, Inc. (CUMD), the national organization that represents credit unions as the title sponsor of a family of road races, announced that the contribution of $483,000 in 2013 pushed the total amount donated over the past 12 years to the Children’s Hospital Network past the $6 million mark. Approximately $112,000 alone was raised by runners and their families and friends in 2013. “We are very proud of how credit unions and their business partners, including our lead partner, PSCU, and runners have all united and collaborated to raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals under the umbrella of Credit Unions for Kids,” CUMD Chairman Juri Valdov said….[more]
